Being an Adult is Hard

You never had to do many of these things by yourself before you moved out on your own.  That illusive independence was desired, but you never learned or practiced these “adulting” behaviors before you launched out from your parents’ home.  You now wonder how you will ever figure it all out and manage to do these mundane tasks with everything else coming at you at the same time.

The pressure is overwhelming.  You want to just come home and be that couch potato and forget all about the bills, the car repairs, that extra project for work, cleaning the house, and the list goes on and on.  But they just do not disappear.  If only you had a magic wand to make everything happen the way it should be done to meet everyone’s expectations.

It is easy to start comparing yourself with others that seem to “have it all together” leaving you feeling frustrated and resentful.  Your friends seem to juggle work, exercise, diet, the bills, and fun with ease.  It is easy to let that comparison end up in jealously and judging yourself harshly.

Your friends may appear to have “adulting” under control, but they probably are hiding their struggles like most people do.

Strength

It is time for a change.

Sometimes our teenage years are filled with activity or even rebellion, and we do not master all the skills for “adulting.” No YouTube video teaches us how to be a great adult.  It is trial and error with bumps along the road.  Hopefully, we learn to avoid those bumps and find smoother paths in the future.

You want to accomplish your goals, and you are tired of others telling you that you are doing it wrong.  Some new adulting habits need to be put in place to help with your finances, household tasks, the groceries, cooking, exercise, health, organization, planning, relationships, and communication with friends and family.  You want to move toward your career goals.
